BAAN

‘BAAN’ - Home in Thai

Raised in a large happy family, Chef Ton’s culinary roots trace back to the enduring flavours of Grandma and Grandpa’s home-cooked meals — conjuring tastes and memories that have lingered with him over the years. While the world continually evolves and changes, our perception of what we find ‘delicious’ has remained remarkably constant, and this is what you will find at BAAN, where the essence of home is captured in every dish.

Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn

Chef Owner at Lahnyai Nusara

Growing up surrounded by delicious home-cooked meals, the incredible flavours he fondly remembers in the dishes lovingly prepared by both his mother and grandmother have contributed significantly to Chef Ton’s passion for cooking.

Upon completion of his economics degree from Chulalongkorn University, he took off to the USA to pursue his dreams at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA). During his time in New York, Chef Ton worked at several Michelin-starred restaurants, including Eleven Madison Park, The Modern and Jean Georges.

After returning home following his experience overseas, he now has a vision to elevate Thai cuisine to another level so that it has an equal standing with the world’s leading cuisines. Chef Ton is currently running several exciting kitchens in Bangkok including Le Du (#4 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021), Nusara (#20 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021), Baan and also a gastronomic tribute to his grandmother, Lahnyai Nusara.
